Hume City Council – Craigieburn Stadium
Requirement
As part of stage one of the Craigieburn Sports Stadium masterplan, Hume City Council embarked on an upgrade to expand the facility with three additional multipurpose sports courts. This development aimed to enhance opportunities for community participation in sports and active recreation while fostering social connection and engagement.
To complement the new courts, the Council required high quality spectator seating. The project team approached SeatsPlus to provide a tailored seating solution that would maximise comfort, functionality, and space efficiency.
Solution
Following a thorough review of the requirements, the SeatsPlus team recommended three tier grandstands with backrests to provide optimal viewing for spectators. A site visit to the new stadium helped determine the best placement for the grandstands, ensuring they seamlessly integrated into the space.
To maximise seating capacity while maintaining comfort, each grandstand was custom built to a length of 5.8 metres. The project team initially required the grandstands to be wall mounted, so the frames were modified accordingly. Additionally, rubber padding was added to the base of the aluminium frames to prevent scuffing on the new court floors.
For a modern and cohesive look, the grandstands were powder coated in Colorbond shade Shale Grey, perfectly matching the aesthetic of the upgraded stadium.
Result
The Craigieburn Sports Stadium upgrade has delivered outstanding results for the community. The addition of three new courts and supporting infrastructure will help meet the growing demand for sports facilities in Craigieburn and surrounding areas, increasing participation and accessibility.
